I Thought I Was Relaxed. My HRV Disagreed.
Years of high performance trained my nervous system to stay alert. I used HRV data to prove it—and used that data to build the ultimate shower routine for focus. Here is what I learned.
I Thought I Was Relaxed. My HRV Disagreed.
Recently, I’ve been testing how the body transitions between being alert (Sympathetic) and calm (Parasympathetic). I used sleep HRV (Heart Rate Variability) as my primary reference. Breathing before bed improved the numbers, but something felt off.
Then my autonomic nervous system scores dropped.
It forced me to admit something uncomfortable: Years of high performance had trained my nervous system to stay alert. Stress had become my baseline.
That realization is exactly why we built ScentXpresso. Not as another smart home gadget, but as recovery infrastructure embedded into a routine you already have.
My data showed the body needs a physiological "pacer" to return to calm. That’s why we built SmartHalo—a visual breathing guide integrated into the shower.
-
As the light expands, you inhale.
-
As it softens, you exhale.

You’re not “trying” to relax; you’re training your nervous system to downshift. When combined with our FreshFusion precision mist, it becomes a five-minute autonomic reset.
I’m continuing the experiment. The data will follow.
If you want early access to our first production batch, join the presale. Control your stress before it controls your performance.
